A touch of gold

Recently I made a set of gold and silver stacking rings and the reception they got was fabulous! Lots of interest... and lost of gasps at the price! The fact is, gold is at an all time high price. It's been climbing for a long time but recently it has gone through the roof due to the wise decision people have made to invest in gold when the economic markets are in flux. This does mean that buying a set of gold and silver stacking rings which are over £400 is out of reach for a lot of people. I thought this was a great shame and so I had a little think and I came up with a brilliant idea!
This is the brilliant idea: a set of sterling silver stacking rings which each have a different 'touch of gold'.
'Nugget' - a 0.2g nugget of 9ct gold formed into a little gold bar
'Tube' - a 9ct gold tube holding a sparkly stone
'Bar' - a strip of 9ct gold sitting on top of the silver band with a patina
'Arc' - a piece of 9ct wire added to the silver band with a hammered finish and a patina to make it pop out.

Now, the rules from the assay office are very clear; gold jewellery must be hall marked UNLESS the gold is less than 1g. I have my own makers mark with the London assay office so hall marking isn't a problem but it does add an extra cost and the idea of these rings is that they stay affordable therefore, each ring has no more than 0.2g of gold... just a touch to give you that lovely mixed metal glow.
The rings in the picture is the idea I'm working on - I'd love to hear back from you... what do you think? A touch of gold to add that special opulent look without breaking the bank!
